Hedonism and Socialism

CORELLATION BETWEEN SOCIALISM AND HEDONISM

The characteristics of the people nowadays are like glamour, greedy, selfish, and etcetera. Nowadays, people only care about themselves, they don’t care with the others, with the people around them. Now, people only think and will do everything to make them be happy. The characteristic of the people now is like they are too extravagant with money, and people think doing like that is the way to be happy. There are only few people who think that being happy is about seeing the other people around them be happy together with us. For example, people choose to go shopping, to go to the night clubs, and waste their money for none sense things, when in the other side there are children starve on the street, people who live on the street, and those people who don’t even have a place which they can call as a “home”.

Now it’s so hard to find to find the people who think that happiness is about seeing those starving children and homeless people get happy because of them, get happy with them. Because the majority people think that the happiness is about making themselves be happy, as that simple! They simply don’t care with the people around them.

1. Definition of socialism and hedonism
Talking about socialism is like talking about socialist people. Socialist people are a kind of people who think that their priority is the happiness of the people around them. And the definition of the socialist people is same with the philosophy of the socialist countries. The philosophy of the socialist countries is that they care the most with the togetherness of the people, for every regulation that they make, they think firstly about the people, they think firstly about the norm, the wealth of the people and the unity of them. And the most of the socialist countries are the countries who always try to keep their culture very well. The examples of the countries who implement the socialist philosophy are the eastern countries.
Let me tell you, that those kinds of countries, when they want to make a regulation, and when they want to implement something, they always keep the norm and the value of the society. They always keep it as possible as they can.

Hedonism is a kind of people who are so selfish and extravagant with money. They are the kind of people who think that happiness is about their own happiness. They like to waste their money, they like to go to the club, they like to go shopping, they like to be drunk, and the worst example of hedonist people are the action of conducting the corruption. Talking about corruptors, they are too greedy with money. They never get enough of what they already have.
As we can see that the character of hedonism countries is supposed to be suitable with the western countries, which are the capitalist countries, because capitalist countries are the countries that stand for the freedom of their society. But unfortunately this character has been a character for Indonesian people.

2. Correlation between socialism and hedonism

Do you still remember about the lizard and crocodile case? This case showed us about the disagreement between KPK and Polri. This case should be solved together, but the fact is the people didn’t do some things that seemed like to solve it, instead of blaming of each other. This condition makes the problem be dissolved. They only think about the way to be looked well in the public without care about the country or the institution itself. They just want to get much money without do their duties well. Their duty is to solve the problem itself. They are too greedy and too selfish.

They have been hedonist people that are not suitable with Indonesia’s culture which should be socialist country, because actually we are an eastern country. I mean, if they are socialist people, they should not blame each other they should be able to solve the problem by discussion, for the importance of every one. For another example is like our house of representative that should do discussion to solve the problem, but the fact is we can see that all they do is voting, not discussing. It really shows that they are not thinking firstly about the country, they just think that they’re there to work, and then get the money, as that simple. They work there is to get money, not to serve the country like how they are meant to be there.

Correlation between socialism and hedonism is like a contradiction. If we look forward, the hedonism philosophy is like capitalism. For example, in the economy sector, the capitalist people are used to be with the condition of individualist, were they who has big power can rule the market, and do everything they want even if it looks like so greedy, it’s just a normal thing for them. But it’s contradicted with the socialist one, where in economy sector, they give the freedom for all the people to grow their business but they still give the borders for them. They will not let the people who have more capital to rule the market, because they still give chances for the people who have less capital, to take a part in the market.

My University Life Story; Sophomore Year

Have I told you how severe my condition when I started my freshman year?? Have I told you that with that small amount of money, it was only enough for me to pay for the transportation (the long and tiring one) and a small pack of an ice tea?? YES it was only enough for that, daily. Every single day, I had to bring my own lunch box and a tumblr full of water from home... That added my heavy bag full with books already. No wonder I was always so small no matter how much I ate. lol :) Before you continue reading this article of my sophomore year in university, I strongly suggest you to read my freshman year story first, here: "Oktafia's Freshman Story" . So, let's now continue the story :)

My University Life Story; Junior Year

I remember that night as I just finished my class and I was on my way back home. It was a usual tiring day as I was walking down the bus’ shelter, crossing the super long bridge to take another bus route, it was so tiring both physically and mentally. I opened up my phone and looked up for the result of my latest test for the student exchange program to Beijing, only to find out I failed. All over again. I could not hold back my tears as I cried on my way to the bus, in that public space. In a flash, all the memories of failures came across my head. I remember back in high school, I held no money more than transportation fee as usual. But I braced myself with a friend to go miles away to the southern part of Jakarta, back and forth so many times after school and went back home late, for the student exchange program tests. These 2 kids of 14 years old running under the rain in the middle of the night, miles away from home, to get to the bus, only to try many times for the student e
